Reservation was made the past Saturday Feb 12, 2011 for 7:15pm. We, 2 families comprising of 4 adults and 4 children ages 3 to 12, were there on time. We stood at the entrance (indoor) for 15-20 minutes while the restaurant "prepares" our table though the place was only 1/3 filled. Half dozen other reservations at similar time i.e. 7:30pm, were shown to their tables immediately. We finally got seated and sat there for 10 minutes without anyone greeting or even pouring water for us. When the waitress finally arrived at our table we asked a few questions and listened to her lame excuses and decided to leave but prior to leaving we asked to speak to the manager, who we gave a few minutes to show up but did not so we just left. Could not figure out why we received no service (as opposed to bad service) and the following were concluded:Too many children?We were too casually dressed?We were Asian?Only the people who worked there that evening knows of the answer, which we do not care to find out but felt completely INSULTED with the whole experience.There is an ABUNDANCE of fine restaurants around the GTA. What makes this horrible restaurant think they're all that we can not understand but this is certainly not the way to treat any customers who walk through their door! Those poor starving children of ours....thankfully the restaurant we went to afterwards more than made up for the TERRIBLE experience we had at Castello.
